I’m sure the above image is very familiar to anyone who’s ever been through small-town Iowa. This particular picture was taken in my hometown of Bondurant, but there are grain elevators all across the state, possibly even the Midwest, that look very much like this. Specifically, I am speaking of the red and blue circles with the word “Co-Op”. I have seen this logo so much in my life, but I really don’t know anything about it. Who came up with it? Does it have any specific meaning, other than to designate that the place is a co-op? How many places still have it?
